Description

Zelda The Legend of original NES Nintendo Game cartridge only - Cleaned Tested and Guaranteed to Work!

Embark on a quest to find the Triforce, slay Ganon and save Princess Zelda in the timeless adventure game from Shigeru Miyamoto that revolutionized the action RPG genre. Originally released for the Famicom Disk System in Japan, the game arrived in the US on cartridge in 1987. The Legend of Zelda's gameplay incorporates elements of action, adventure, role-playing, and puzzle games. The player controls Link from an overhead perspective as he travels in the overworld, a large outdoor map with varied environments. Link begins the game armed with a small shield, but a sword becomes available to Link after he ventures into a cave which is accessible from the game's first map screen. Throughout the game, merchants, fairies, townspeople, and others guide Link with cryptic clues. These people are scattered across the overworld and hidden in caves, shrubbery, or behind walls or waterfalls.

5 Star Review> One of the Best!

This is hands down one of the best games for the Nintendo. I remember getting it as a kid and was blown away and also in awe of how you could save your progress. I added this to my collection again because it would not be right without it. You have action and adventure: not to mention the RPG element. This game rocked back then and it rocks now! Can't say enbough good things about this game.

Amazing! Besides some wear on the cartridge the game played perfectly without any issues. Saves without losing prior progress and most importantly brings back old memories of playing this game back in the early 90's.

5 Star Review> Where it all began.

This game was a gift for my tenth birthday, now 23 years ago. This was back in the day when that rather cheesy though still fun cartoon known as the Super Mario Brothers Super Show was still on TV. It featured a Zelda cartoon every Friday, which was what made me interested in the actual game. This game was where the Legend of Zelda franchise began, but when compared to later games in the series, say Ocarina of Time or a Link to the Past, the differences are quite profound. The exploration is certainly there, but you'll find no villages to explore and most of the people you'll interact with are either shopkeepers or old men in the game's nine dungeons or even well-hidden Mobblins who'll give you money if you can locate them. These last gave rise to the famous line "It's a secret to everybody." Musicallythe game has it going on. This is the origin of the classic Zelda theme, but the rest of the music is just as excellent, from the mysterious dungeon theme to the tense, ominoustune in Deat Mountain, where the evil Gannon (renamed Ganon in later installments), holds Zelda captive. The sound effects, though nothing special by today's standards, are still some of the most recognizeable you'll hear on the NES. Overall this is definitely a game you should ownif you own a NES. And even if you also own the promotional Game Cube disk that features the original Legend of Zelda you should own the NES cart if you own a system. It's well worth it. Besides then you'll have a backup if your main system ever goes on the blink and you need your Zelda fix.

5 Star Review> The game itself is legend!

This is the game that reminds you of your childhood. I was suprised to see how much of the 1st quest I was able to remember. I am now in the process of completing the 2nd quest. I never even bothered with this quest when I was younger so this an extremely difficult task. It took me HOURS to just find the 3rd dungeon (because I missed the flute/recorder in the 2nd dungeon. I just finished the 5th dungeon and I am determined to finally get the 2nd quest completed. The game works great and it was in pretty good condition. I can only imagine that the battery was replaced because it has no trouble keeping my games saved.

5 Star Review> Great game, sometimes tempermental

This is an all-time classic, of course. I find I have to toy with it a bit more than my other cartridges in order to get it to work (the blowing trick, etc.) but it eventually does work, and when it does, say goodbye to your entire afternoon.

5 Star Review> It doesn't get any better than this... or does it?

Next to mario 3, zelda 1 is the greatest game on the nes. With its fantastic graphics, music, and gameplay it gives you that feeling of how great 8-bit games are. Also, if you like the newer zeldas, like ocarina of time or twilght princess, then you should check out the first one because it is just as good.

5 Star Review> The Beginning of a Legend

Of all the classic Nintendo series, The Legend of Zelda is still one of the most talked about, especially amongst older gamers that have grown up past their wants of a platformer like Super Mario Bros. In this early adventure title from 1986, the player follows Link in his first adventure to save Princess Zelda from the evil clutches of Ganon, King of Evil (or Gannon if you really wanna get nerdy). Gameplay is slightly varied switching between action/adventure and puzzle adventure as was made a staple for the entire series. Not everything that needs to be done is explicitly said in the text of the game for first time players might find it easier if they had a walkthrough or strategy guide with them. It can get very easy to get lost in the sprawling world for those with no experience in the series or of early top-down style Zelda games but most should get the hang of it fairly quickly. Gameplay control is very solid if not a little stiff. Link doesn’t need to move in a diagonal manner or jump at any point so it’s not too necessary to have the fluid controls of a Mario or Sonic game. The difficulty is varied but generally lies on the easier side. Zelda isn’t a hard game to get through hypothetically but there are a few puzzles in the course of the adventure that if you don’t know at least a basic understanding of what needs to be done, you will get frustrated. However, the whole scope of the game doesn’t throw anything at you that a little ingenuity won’t get Link through. The music is iconic. The main theme playing in the background of the main field in Hyrule is one of the most recognized songs in video game history alongside the main Super Mario Bros. theme. Not only that, but every other song in the game is just simply phenomenal. Every song is just as iconic as it was 25 years ago and each one is the perfect back drop to any adventure classic. This iconic game was just the first to span the multi-million dollar empire that we now see today. It’s clear that with everything this game did right, why we see this game today as one of the system’s definitive titles. For it’s industry changing gameplay, amazing sound, and classic fell; I award the original Legend of Zelda on NES a total of 9 out of 10. It would have a perfect score if only it wasn’t so easy to get lost at points and the slight dependency on a walkthrough for first time players.

5 Star Review> A True Classic

This game is magnificent!! Zelda is one of the few games in the nes library that stands the test of time, this game is a must for hardcore nes fans. There are so many excellent qualities in this game such as the save feature(Which definitely surpasses the password system used in most nes games), the challenging puzzles, epic boss fights, and a huge world to explore!! This game started a legend and i definitely recommend getting it.
