I Wouldn't Say "Move Over Mario" Myself
The box features an exert from a review that says "Move over Mario" as if this puts Super Mario 64 to shame. I can't say I agree, while it's not a bad game per se I can't say I find it the best sandbox 3D platformer I've ever played. What really gets me is that the opening cutscene establishes context for the adventure but it doesn't go far enough, one minute the kids are being told about the Winks and Hood-Winks before going to bed, the next they're up and saving them without anyone telling them they're in need of rescue. It's such a small and insignificant detail, I know, but it just feels off to me. And that's just story, the gameplay ain't bad but it's not exactly mind blowing, it's your typical collect-a-thon where you're exploring multi-tiered places trying to nab the important items while taking out enemies that get in your way before they completely deplete your health and make you lose a life, not exactly revolutionary, which is fine I mean Spyro wasn't exactly innovative for the most part. Also the level design is nothing to write home about, it's not exactly the most interesting, I can't say that is compares to Super Mario 64 or even Banjo-Kazooie. Then again I haven't gotten that far in the game, haven't played it very much yet at the time of writing this review, my mind could change. I still find it quite solid and somewhat imaginative so I'm not writing it off, and I wouldn't take this review too seriously and definitely check it out for yourself.
