It's Life Force again!
The story is similar. The galaxy is threatened by a massive lifeform named Parasitis, which like Zelos, has a taste for planets. Many starships tried to fend off this beast but failed and were engulfed. Among them was a ospital ship carrying Princess Maria, who is apparently so unimportant that she never actually appears in game and warrants only an incidental mention in the manual. You play Second Lieutenant Nazal from the recently engulfed planet Abadox, who only escaped Parasitis because you weren't in the battle. Your ship's hyperdrive was malfunctioning. Now it's back online and you've taken it upon yourself to fly into Parasitis to destroy its core and neutralize it forever. To do this, however, you must fight your way through six stages, eac containing hoards of enemies. There's also a boss and a midboss that must be destroyed. You're also dismayingly vulnerable, one hit meaning instant death. And unlike such games as Life Force, You completely restart the current level when you lose a life. The audio is pretty good NES fare. THe sound effects definitely get the job done well and the music, though it does recycle frequently, is well orchestrated and gets you in the mood to fight. Overall this is a fun game, but it's definitely no walk in the park.
