This game has good graphics, music and challenge! This is one of the earliest 8 bits games in the system, so prepare for a hard journey, only your skills will help you conquer the end.

The character is blocky and slow. An adjustment getting familiar with the movement. But game is still a good time. Shipped quicker than I expected and in great working condition

The game arrived in pristine condition, though this game definitely falls into the NES difficulty category. Hopefully, I'll beat it... someday.

A great and very challenging game. Great graphics, great music, great manga styled cutscenes. Very spooky bosses too. I received this in mint condition from Lukie Games !

Don't let the name or the price fool you, Astyanax is a really good game. The sprites are big and well detailed the music and sound effects are good and the cut scenes are great for the NES. If you like action platformers and you've never played this game, pick it up the price is right. The copy I received is like new :)

You move slow and you progressively increase the power of your axe as you continue.

I thought it was pretty good. The anime intro is neat, and reminded me a bit of the Ninja Gaiden cut scenes. The first level was a bit trick to get the flying enemies, but eventually you settle into a groove. Saving your special power makes the boss fights a little more manageable. Overall, decent game, but as others have said, the character is a bit stiff to control.

What can I say? One of the BEST NES games ever made! Exceptional Music! The graphics are Exceptional! This game ROCKS!!!!

I remember playing this when it first came out. I was impressed by the anime-style cutscenes and thought the main character with a big axe was pretty awesome. Playing it now, the controls are a bit stiff and slow, but it's still a pretty fun game!

Astyanax is an action/adventure game from Jaleco. The game has average music, story, gameplay, and controls. Some of the levels get somewhat tedious, but many of the larger bosses are very cool, and well drawn. Astyanax is rather average, but is a nice change of pace from other popular NES games every now-and-then.
