Had this one as a kid, hidden gem for sure!
Monster party is a side scrolling beat-em-up action horror game that does not take itself to seriously. It's campy and pays comedy tribute in this way to some of the great monster movies of the early days such as the first boss being a plant that resembles the one in little shop of horrors! The music is AMAZEING I cannot stress that enough it is very mood setting and enjoyable. Levels rage from the creepy overworld you are in,to underground sewers and even a haunted house maze! Your main charcter has a baseball bat he mashes enemies faces in with but when you find the pill power up for a short time you become the monster gargoyle guy he is trying to help out in this scary world and can fly and shoot projectiles! This price is a bargain and this is one of those hidden gems you may not have heard of. GET IT if you like side scroller beat-em-ups and campy horror from the 80's.Or in all honesty just get it. Onje of the best NES games ever made.

Fantastic setting, high difficulty
Monster Party is one of those games that marries game music, sound effects and art in such a way that it leaves you with a depressed, sort of macabre feeling while you play... and that's exactly what was intended. THe level design is odd, and the story odder still - but play it alone with the lights off at home and you'll get a sense of loneliness no other NES game can provide. It'll have an effect on you.
