This gun does work. However, it requires you to adjust the brightness and contrast settings on your television to unusual levels. For me, the same settings that work with the NES Zapper perform erratically with this light gun.
Initially, the gun would delay in firing -- and sometimes fire of its own accord -- but configuring the above settings appears to have removed that issue.
Different CRT televisions may have different settings but for Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley, I found that adjusting my television's brightness all the way down made the gun perform perfectly. For Operation Wolf, the opposite was true.
So, yeah, it works, but all of this brightness adjusting changed the colors of the games in question!
