The trend continues.
Where Super Star Wars was excellent, this game continues that trend. Having been driven from their base on Yavin IV, the Rebel Alliance has taken refuge on the inhospitable ice planet Hoth. They know, however, that the relentless soldiers of the Galactic Empire will continue to hunt them and may even at this moment be hot on their trail. Meanwhile Luke Skywalker, hopeful Jedi Apprentice, has been tasked by Obi-Wan Kenobi with journeying to the marshy world of Dagobba, there to seek training from the ancient Jedi Master Yoda.
As you can expect it's your task to guide the various heroes of the Rebellion through many locations, from Hoth itself to Dagoba to Cloud City. And yes, there are a fair few vehicular combat stages to spice things up.
The controls are much the same as in the prior game, with the added feature that, once he acquires them, X will use one of Luke's force powers while Select will cycle between them.
The audio in this game is excellent. Many SFX from the prior game are reused here with plenty of new ones. There are even a small number of voice clips, namely Darth Vader and Yoda (the latter sounding more true to the film than the former), and this is very cool. The music is taken from the movie, and even the few original tunes take their basic sound and structure from the film score.
All in all this is an excellent continuation to the SNES Star Wars saga.
