Not a bad start.
I first played this game after a couple of my cousins accidentally left it at my grandparents' house while I was visiting. I later bought myself a copy. The game is much the same as those on the NES except for the presence of the stage select and the three bonus games. Story wise it's pretty much the same. Shredder and Krang are out to take over New York City and the Green Machine must stop them. The gameplay is even pretty much the same as the NES games except that this game is much shorter with only five stages.
Control wise the game's fairly responsive. Each turtle has an unlimited supply of shurikin, which you use with Down and the attack button. You also have two possible control schemes which merely switch the attack and jump buttons around. The default scheme is Attack on A and Jump on B.
Audio wise nothing special. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme is pretty wellrendered here and the rest of the level music is ok.My favorite is the theme for the last level. The boss themes aren't groundbreaking either. NOr, for that matter, are the sound effects. They get the ob done bt they can get annoying, particularly the beeping when a turtle gets low on health.
Overall this is a fun game, just don't expect anything spectacular. You also won't get the complete ending if you start directly at the last level, and even the full ending isn't particularly long or great either.
