Basewars
IMHO the best game ever made for the nes. Set in the future (which is now the past!) Baseball team owners get tired of dealing with injuries and high salaries, and decide to replace the players with robots. They change the rules to make baseball more of a contact sport. This probably would have been rated T for teen for the violence if the game had come out post video game rating system. Pennant mode allows you to upgrade your robots and control a team. I loved this game as a kid, and it's still fun today.

Baseball with robots!
This is a fun little baseball game where all the players are robots. The best part is that you can customize them prior to each game to make them better pitchers or to make them part hovercraft. The game is quirky in that regard and its that quirkiness that is so incredibly endearing. Another fun thing is ability to fight whenever a call has to be made. This adds a little more depth to each game as you want to make sure each of your players can hold his own in a fight if it comes down to it. This is a great and somewhat underrated baseball game for the NES. I highly recommend it to retro sports fans.
