Fun bad game
This is the last and only Shadow the hedgehog game sounds cool doesn't it your favorite edgy hedgehog shooting people then spin dashing away well sounds cool buggy controls bad story this is a character death for our favorite edgy hedgehog it's sad but I feel like this is the best Sega could do fore shadow the hedgehogs character development was a nightmare with half the team being split on this and Sonic heroes The only points this game gets is pre-rendered cutscenes and OSTs but if you're a shadow fan I would rather play Sonic adventure 2 or Sonic '06

Great game! Could be better
The game is great so far! I played through the neutral path without trouble. However, as soon as I started playing the hero and dark missions things escalated very quickly and I had to google some walkthroughs. I’m only giving this 4 stars because the hero and dark missions could be a bit easier for a beginner.

Unused Potential
This is a game that might've benefited from being made later. The game stars (as you probably guessed) Shadow the Hedgehog, as an amnesiac Shadow travels through various lands to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds in order to remember what happened in his past. As Shadow travels the various locations, Shadow meets various characters who the player chooses which path Shadow will take. There are various paths that Shadow can take that will determine which events will happen. With that said, this wasn't handled as well as it could have been. While there are indeed multiple paths and endings that the player can take, very few missions in the game that are completed seem to have anything to do with each other. The game would've benefited more with its multiple paths being (at least mostly) independent of one another instead. I've even saw people take issue with the last ending of the game. Maybe have the game take place in the future (instead of being relatively soon after Sonic Heroes) and after creating the multiple different paths, maybe include some time travel shenanigans in a manner that has all of them feel like they matter. Sounds like it might benefit more for a Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) remake if you ask me. With that said, this game did make some improvements/changes when compared to Sonic Heroes. The grinding has been given a special animation when jumping from rail to rail with the "X" button, instead of releasing the "B" button when grinding to make the rail jumping easier. There’re also other changes such as Shadow feeling more restrained and weighted and the homing attack having a more solid feel (press rapidly to escape). A change that might be less defensible would be that the camera is more restrained to move horizontally in one view, being unable to zoom out much or have more control in areas that would benefit from such an angle. What's more, in certain areas where this game is fixing the camera for a particular sequence (particularly the rockets), the camera will not reorient itself, leading to a blind outcome. As for getting the "A" rank in every mission, one needs to accumulate as many hero/dark points for that particular mission while getting a good time. If you’re doing hero, don't accumulate dark points and vice versa. Normal missions only take time and rings. The game overall is fine, but the story is where it really needed to shine in this particular case, especially since it was a selling point for the game. What do you think?

A Darker Sonic Game
I didn't purchase this game off this site, but i did borrow it and enjoy it then own it years later and sold it back rather quickly. being that i may never get it again i figured i might as well write a review. you can actually tell the creators really tried, being that you can wield guns and drive vehicles plus you can choose whether to be good, bad, or even neutral. i do believe (but don't quote me on this) that your behavior will put you on different levels as you go through the story... if i'm wrong then only the story itself changes but i don't think that's the case. either way, this could lead to a highly replayable game... if you're interested in a darker sonic game. one must also factor in some gamers were too young, if this was some of what all they had, i'd say this game would get 4/5... but since those gamers now probably have jobs, this game would probably be irrelevant if it wasn't for nostalgia's sake. i don't hate the game, i just wasn't really able to get into it a second time years later and i really tried. this sucks in that it's probably my favorite 3d sonic game.

A Different Approach to Sonic
I enjoyed it, but this is a drastically different approach to Sonic. You still run around collecting rings, but you'll also be shooting aliens and soldiers while dealing with an awkward camera and confusing and dark story. The idea of a darker Sonic game kinda works, as Shadow can choose which objective he completes in each mission to unlovk new levels and get alternate endings. The game also includes multiplayer- a 2P fight to the death while running around an arena collecting rings and weapons. Its kinda fun, especially for younger kids who aren't quite ready for CoD or Halo, but classic Sonic fans should probably skip out on this game.

Best sonic game ever!!!
Why do people critisize this game??? It continues Sonic Heroes and SA2! The guns make it awesome and it is worth the money. Trust me its very fun. In some ways it's better than SA2. The songs are awesome and gameplay is exciting!

Best sonic game ever next to SA2
This game is critisized WAAAY too much. I find it awesome! The guns make it fun and the levels are exciting! Don't listen to those silly critics they are liars. If you're a 10+ boy gamer this game rules. The songs are so cool and the fact it continues Heroes and SA2 makes it even better! ARK fans will love this game as do I!
