Excellent Top Gun Game Experience
This is the best game on the SNES for flight sim fighter jocks. This is the game that the two Top Gun games on the NES back in the early 90's should have been. The graphics for a video game console flight sim are incredible, the scenery is a lot better than the aforementioned games referred to earlier in this review, the controls are nice and tight, handling closer to the way an actual jet flies for a game of this time, the HUD symbology is much better than the two NES Top Gun games and actually looks like an actual fighters gunsight. It's a nice long game and actually feels like a genuine combat flight sim experience. It has a nice feature of a boss battle every few missions, sort of like the Battletank, and Super Battletank games on the NES and SNES, the weapon selection is incredible, featuring the F-14's actual weapons payload it was designed to carry. Like the M-61 Vulcan cannon, the AIM-9 Sidewinder, AIM-7 Sparrow, and the AIM-54 Phoenix. The music isn't bad either, it's not like the hard rock soundtrack featured on the movie Top Gun, but it's appropriate for this game. Like I said, it is a great game, if there is any game that this game is like, it is probably the outstanding, but criminally underrated Ultimate Air Combat on the NES. I already own this game and if there is anyone who loves the movie Top Gun, and constantly feels the Need for Speed going MACH 2 with their hair on fire, pick up this game cause I guarantee you this game is a Walk in the Park.
