Definite Gem!
Dragon Spirit: The New Legend on the NES is one of my all-time favorite games. I've owned that game for almost thirty years now and I still break it out from time to time to have some good old fashioned fun. With that in mind, getting THIS version of Dragon Spirit was a no-brainer.
Taking place a generation before The New Legend, you assume control of Amru/Amul as he battles against the evil forces of the Demon ZAWELL. It's a fairly typical top-down vertical shooter. You move around the stage, dodging enemies and attacks while delivering your own blistering form of justice. It's got eight levels (as opposed to the nine levels of the Arcade version it was based on), but they are some of the most insane levels you will ever play, as the difficulty begins to scale more and more with each Area passed. As a proud owner of both the NES and TG16 versions of Dragon Spirit, I do have to admit that I LOVE the control and music of the NES version just a hair bit better, but the TG16 version SHINES in its graphical glory. This is one of those titles that I always suggest getting both versions of. Highly recommended title!
